Dr. Kofi B. Acheampong is a Professional Engineer and a Board-Certified Geotechnical Engineer (D.GE from the Academy of Geo-Professionals), and an Environmental Sustainability Professional (ENV SP, Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure) with over thirty (30) years of broad and in-depth multi-disciplinary experience in Geotechnical, Geo-Structures, Geo-Environmental, Geo-Forensics and construction, from field engineering to design and project management.
Dr. Acheampong is a prime Technical Lead with responsibility for large-scale infrastructure projects involving subsurface investigations and in-situ soil/rock testing, earthquake engineering and site-specific soil liquefaction evaluations; specialty deep foundations for bridges and highway infrastructure and wastewater treatment plants, and off-shore and coastal construction projects.
He has extensive knowledge in constructible innovation, soil-structure modeling, and failure analyses. He demonstrates creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment, with skills in leading/participating in multi-disciplinary and design-build teams in project planning and construction management, managing million-dollar budgets, and supervising the work of engineering personnel. Kofi has consulted for the US Federal Highway and multiple state Dept of Transportation on bridge foundations and ground improvement systems. Kofi has both local and international experiences projects in the USA, Ghana, Israel, and the West Indies.
Dr. Acheampong graduated with a Ph.D. in Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Engineering from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA; M.S in Structural Engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana.
Currently, he a Senior Associate & Chief Geotechnical Engineer with KCI Technologies, Inc., Sparks, MD USA.
