Seth Asare, PhD, P.Eng. Dr. Seth Asare is an accomplished professional Water Resources, Environmental and Agricultural Engineering Consultant with over 25-year experience in project & program planning, design, implementation and management in agricultural, natural resource management, and environmental compliance infrastructures. He is also skilled in the development, (design, implementation & management) of soil and water conservation technologies that are appropriate for climate-smart agriculture and natural resources management.
As a private consultant, he has been providing technical expertise in irrigation, agricultural and roadway drainage, natural resources and watershed management, soil erosion and sediment control to private and governmental organizations in Africa (Ghana & South Africa), North America (Canada & USA), Asia (Singapore) and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia). Some of Dr. Asare’s clients include: University of Guelph, Canada; CH2M HILL (Now Jacobs Engineering), Portland Oregon, USA; Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT); The Presidency of Meteorology and the Environment, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS).
Dr. Asare served as the lead storm water design consultant for Washington State Department of Transportation in a US$48 million roadway interchange project in Vancouver Washington, USA. In a recent USAID sponsored assignment, for ACDI/VOCA, Dr. Asare conducted agricultural land assessment of 994- acre farmland for Akandem Farms Ltd (AFL) and over 3000 outgrowers in Sandema, Upper East Region of Ghana. After a thorough field investigation, he provided detailed climate smart agricultural practices and natural resource management recommendations to improve productivity of corn, rice and other crops that minimize negative environmental effects and create a more balanced ecosystem for AFL and his outgrowers.
He is currently the CEO of Environmental Soil & Water Engineering Consultants (ENSWEC) a private consulting group with offices in Ghana and the USA. Dr. Asare had his Masters’ and Ph.D. in water Resources and Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph, Canada, and B. Sc. in Agricultural Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana. He is also a member of the American & Canadian Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
